McConnell Residence

McConnell-path

The HOA landscaper was proposing a green hedge type of treatment for this new home. Although the back yard was only 8 feet deep, the owner wanted to have a space that could be viewed from the house, enjoying the birds and seasonal changes in the landscape. The HOA required lawn in the back, which we resisted unsuccessfully. A “forest” was planted and ultimately, the trees shaded the lawn enough we were allowed to take it out. (A new landscape committee was much more amenable to removing the lawn, by this time.) The lawn was replaced by woodland type plants, shade lovers, even though this site is on the south side of the building.
